Keeping Track
So my quit date of April 9th has a couple different reasonings behind it.
1.) I wanted to start on a Monday. Just seems like a fitting day to start a quit. Now if that isn't an oxymoron, I don't know what is.
2.) I want to keep track of when I'm smoking so I know what parts of the day and which activities are the biggest "triggers" for me.
I started the initial log on 03/27 at 2:06 P.M. and since that time the tallies are:
Cigarettes Smoked: 44
Money Spent: $7.04 (est. $0.15 per cigarette)
Time of Day I Smoke Most: 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
Activity Most Associated: Driving, Eating and T.V.
So for about another week I'm going to do this before going on Chantix and then that first week on the prescription and see if things start to change at all. I can already say I've quit smoking in my home office playing on the computer. Wow was I human chimney in that room!
Until next time, here's to going quit.

April 9th 2007
That is the day I'm setting forth to start on Chantix and begin the long and probably difficult journey of quitting smoking for good.
Fairly recently a good friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer and was given anywhere from a month to a year. His isn't lung cancer or really anything related to smoking, but it gave me a scare. So I pondered and pondered on the idea of quitting, but never really got around to it.
As the months have passed, the thoughts have crossed my mind and then a friend of mine on our fire department started taking the Chantix pill and basically touted it as a miracle drug. No to little cravings. Smoking started to taste like shit and he didn't even enjoy being around smoking. I then hear from a fellow business person who went on it and the same result.
So for about a month I thought about it and thought about it. Well, as of today Tuesday March 27th, 2007 I called the Doctor and my prescription is waiting for me at the pharmacy. On April 9th I will begin taking the drug and try my damndest to quit.
This blog is here for me to vent, get my feelings out and who knows, even throw in some words of inspiration for those who have stumbled across my blog.
